For a large national hotel chain with over 2,500 locations, a satellite network served as a reliable platform to support all of its retail applications, and advanced network management services helped to improve performance and efficiencies.
One of the world’s leading hotel chains needed a reliable and scaleable network infrastructure to provide connectivity to 2,500 nationwide locations. The challenge was to find a platform that could support its existing and expanding retail applications while simultaneously reducing operational costs by improving network efficiency. In addition, they needed to roll out the entire network quickly – within three months.
To meet these needs, the company deployed a customized VSAT satellite network based on Spacenet’s SkyEdge platform. Spacenet is also providing managed network services that ensure maximum reliability, and serves as a single point of contact for the management of the customer’s network services and Level 1 Help Desk. In addition, the network was deployed to 2,500 sites within three months, enabling the customer to realize the operational benefits almost immediately.
The VSAT network provides optimized support for IP based hotel applications, including reservation systems, credit card authorization/point of sale and polling services, as well as improved front desk and back office ‘check-in/check-out’ efficiency. In addition, the private VSAT network provides high availability and meets the customer’s data integrity and security requirements.
