Gilat Satellite Networks Announces Additions to Senior Management at its Spacenet Subsidiary

Satellite industry veteran Nick Supron joins Spacenet as President and CEO

Petah Tikva, Israel, January 29, 2001 — Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILTF) today announced additions to the senior management team of its U.S. subsidiary Spacenet Inc. The additions are designed to support Spacenet's rapid business growth and its goal of continuous improvement in customer service.

The company named Nick Supron as Spacenet's new President and Chief Executive Officer. Spacenet's current President and Chief Operating Officer Sheldon (Shelly) Revkin will now serve as Spacenet's Vice Chairman.

Mr. Supron, 45, brings an extensive background in the sales, deployment and operation of mission-critical networks based on Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite technology, as well as terrestrial solutions. Prior to joining Spacenet, he served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations for GTECH Holdings Corporation, the world's largest lottery system operator with 4,000 employees and annual revenues of more than $1 billion.

During his 15 years with GTECH, one of Mr. Supron's notable achievements was the start up and growth of GTECH's Latin American Division. During that time, he was a significant customer of Gilat, responsible for deployment and operation of Gilat VSAT networks in Brazil, Argentina and Chile for GTECH's lottery networks. Mr. Supron earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University.

In addition, Gilat named Allen Coe as Chief Operating Officer at Spacenet. Mr. Coe, 62, most recently served as Vice President of Service Operations at Packard Bell, where he was instrumental in growing its manufacturing and support operations. He has also held senior management positions with Silicon Graphics, Convergent Technologies/Unisys and Texas Instruments.

As a direct report to Mr. Supron, Mr. Coe will apply his experience in the growth and management of high-volume processes to lead Spacenet's focus on operational efficiency and customer orientation. Mr. Coe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and completed advanced business study at Southern Methodist University.

Gilat Chairman Yoel Gat said, "When Gilat acquired Spacenet in 1998, our priority was growing market share and identifying new markets for our products. Under Shelly Revkin's guidance, we have dramatically increased the number of Skystar Advantage® and SkyBlaster™ customers in our core VSAT business. By adding Nick Supron and Al Coe to the Spacenet team, we will ensure continued focus on market leadership and customer service while accommodating Shelly's desire for a role focused on business growth."

New President and CEO Nick Supron said, "Spacenet and Gilat have made continued leadership in satellite-based IP networks the goal for 2001. This involves continued focus on providing superior technology and service to the enterprise marketplace, combined with opening and growing significant new markets. I look forward to executing on that vision, delivering the industry's highest-quality products and services."

New Vice Chairman Shelly Revkin said, "The expanded executive team enhances Spacenet's ability to provide superior customer care while aggressively pursuing new business. I welcome the new management team members and look forward to working with them to ensure our continued success in the U.S. VSAT marketplace."
