Spacenet announces new satellite Backup solution as part of its Connexstar On-Demand family of services
Connexstar Backup enables customers to approach true 100% uptime for mission critical networks
McLean, VA, August 9, 2005 Spacenet Inc. today announced that it has added a satellite Backup solution to its Connexstar On-Demand family of services, which increases the availability of terrestrial networks. In addition to serving as a backup or fail over service, it can also be utilized for supplemental bandwidth for traffic overflow from terrestrial networks and serves as an alternative broadband multicast communications platform.
As an extension to Spacenet’s Connexstar VSAT and DSL offering, Connexstar Backup offers a network “lifeline” for real-time and critical applications. Connexstar Backup provides a physically diverse backup network path, and has the added flexibility of usage-based billing on a per-site basis.
Customers pay a reduced flat-rate monthly usage fee lower than the Connexstar full-time services, with the option to purchase additional usage on a site-by-site basis. Connextar Backup includes full Internet/intranet/e-mail access; supports a wide range of business applications and is available with Spacenet’s world-class installation and support services.
Spacenet’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing Christina Clifton said, “Connexstar Backup is designed to enable a ‘five-nines’ level of individual site availability, an exceptional reliability in wide area networking solutions. In addition to serving as a reliable secondary communication vehicle when terrestrial networks fail, Connexstar Backup also offers enterprises the advantage of inexpensively augmenting their existing networks for multicast and burst connectivity. It’s a perfect offering for customers that need only a part-time network solution, and it’s another example of Spacenet’s continuing innovation and improvement.”
