McLean, VA - August 3, 2009 - Spacenet Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary
of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT) and one of the world’s leading
providers of managed network solutions, introduced its new Prysm Pro application
and network management appliance. Prysm Pro is Spacenet’s second generation
integrated networking solution, based on the Prysm network appliance that
has already been installed at thousands of nationwide business locations
across multiple industries. Prysm Pro is a self-contained hardware and software
solution that provides a broad range of networking and content-delivery
functions, as well as support for enhanced security and backup connectivity
for business continuity. In response to customer demand, Spacenet launched
Prysm Pro to provide support for a wider range of business applications
and streamlined corporate-wide network management practices.
The innovative Prysm Pro is a modular, scalable, off-the-shelf IP network appliance that offers unique features not comparable to other products on the market. It can be completely customized to support multiple secure wireless networks and provides integrated support for a wide range of corporate applications including out-of-the-box support for data acceleration, retail applications/POS hardware interfaces, PCI compliance, and multimedia content delivery such as digital media. Additionally, Prysm Pro is integrated with Spacenet’s Managed Network Services, providing access to a user-friendly web portal to enable simplified and centralized network management.
“Prysm Pro is designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers and
solve a wide range of comprehensive networking and application challenges.
It has the flexibility to address all site-level networking and application
requirements on a single device solution,” said Spacenet President and COO
Glenn Katz. “Many of our enterprise customers, including our most recent
addition Boston Market, are already using Prysm as the core of their high
availability hybrid networks and to address a wide range of requirements
including PCI compliance, enhanced security, and backup connectivity for
business continuity. The new Prysm Pro provides even more advanced features
and functionality to help increase the utility and cost effectiveness of
our customers’ communications networks and corporate wide applications.”
The Prysm Pro is designed for deployment in Wide Area Network (WAN) and
Local Area Network (LAN) environments. On the WAN side it interfaces to
a VSAT, DSL, cable, or 3G wireless modem, or a combination of multiple WAN
links to support high availability hybrid networks. On the LAN side it attaches
via Ethernet and USB to any IP-based devices and via serial ports to legacy
serial devices. The Prysm Pro can also be purchased with an integrated SkyEdge
or SkyEdge II satellite router module. Some of the technical features include:
• Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol based routing between primary and
secondary links
• Automatic hybrid switching between satellite, wireline and wireless technologies
• Integrated Wi-Fi hotspot services including authentication and activity
logging
