Spacenet Names Susan Miller to Lead its Integrated Government Solutions Division

Spacenet expands its government services unit and appoints Susan Miller as CEO

McLean, VA - November 16, 2009
–Spacenet Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT) and one of the world’s leading providers of satellite networking solutions, today announced that Susan Miller has joined the company as CEO of its Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions division. Miller will oversee the strategic direction and marketing efforts of Spacenet’s government services unit with a focus on expanding its reach to new customers including the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, the Intelligence community and government related agencies.

“This appointment is a significant step for Spacenet as we expand our government business and provide mission critical communication services including fixed and transportable satellite solutions to a wider range of government clients,” said Spacenet CEO Andreas Georghiou. “This move is a very logical extension of our business given the success we have seen in first response markets and other critical government communications. Susan brings to Spacenet an impressive track record in implementing strategic initiatives and has extensive knowledge of the government market and satellite technology. We are confident that this addition to our management team will allow us to leverage our unique satellite solutions in the government market and the DoD sector.”

Spacenet has been expanding its presence in the government market with the launch of targeted product offerings and new government customers at federal, state and local levels. Much of Spacenet’s initial government success has come from its ability to support critical first response satellite solutions. Spacenet has a proven track record of meeting some of the most demanding communications requirements with customized solutions, which ultimately increases an agency’s ability to respond effectively. The company has been able to effectively leverage its network customization capabilities to meet a variety of government network requirements helping it expand beyond the first responder market to other critical government networks. The new appointment will enable Spacenet to provide satellite solutions to a wider range of government agencies including the DoD and to develop long term strategies that assure customer needs are being met.

“Leading Spacenet’s government division and delivering network solutions that meet the varying operational and communications requirements of government customers is an exciting opportunity,” said Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions CEO Susan Miller. “Spacenet is well positioned to leverage its comprehensive expertise in satellite communications to expand its reach to a wider range of government clients. I look forward to applying my many years of experience in the government sector and satellite industry to contribute to Spacenet’s success.”

Miller has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and satellite sector and has a broad background in management, technology and operations. Previous to Spacenet, Susan served as President and Chairman of the Board for Intelsat General Corporation and grew the business from $80M to just under $300M during her tenure. She has held a range of executive roles, including: Senior Vice President for SkyTerra LP; Vice President Engineering and Operations for Lockheed Martin World Systems; and Director Advanced Applications Development for COMSAT Corporation. Miller earned a BSEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a MSEE with a concentration in satellite communications from the University of Southern California.
