Transportable Options
Spacenet offers transportable solutions that allow our Connexstar
services to be deployed from a transportable, vehicle-portable
mount that can be set up in less than five minutes with the push
of a button. This transportable solution can be integrated with
a standalone VSAT unit or with the Spacenet-offered Cisco
iComm mobile communications kit for a complete on-the-go communications
solution.
The transportable VSAT acquisition unit connects to a Connexstar satellite antenna and satellite modem (or Cisco IP VSAT Module), and automatically positions itself and acquires its satellite signal with the push of a button. Easily deployable by end-users, it is perfectly suited for oilfield exploration, homeland security, disaster recovery, emergency response, and other applications requiring frequent set-up and teardown.
With the transportable solution, customers can be up and connected
to the Internet or a private network within minutes; when the
mission is completed, de-installation is a fully automated snap.
The unit can be deployed freestanding or mounted to automobiles
or trailers, and the field-tested ruggedness of the Connexstar
service ensures an extremely reliable solution. Optional solutions
for solar power sources are available as well to provide a truly
go-anywhere wireless high-speed networking solution.
Automated Transportable Mount Features:
- Three-axis (Az, El, Pol) automatic satellite acquisition with GPS/compass/level sensors and a pre-loaded library of satellites
- Ku-band 75 cm elliptical or 96 cm round reflector
- User-configurable up converter/LNA/modem
- Single push-button for satellite acquisition mode, using simple handheld control/display unit for manual mode
- Optional RS232 serial port for control/modem interface
- Accepts 110/220V AC power, 1ph, 50/60 Hz (1.5 to 3 amps depending on dish size)
- Operates in winds up to 60 mph (can travel stowed in up to 120 MPH winds) and in temperatures from -20 F to 125 F
- Unit weighs approx. 100 lbs.
Other Transportable Options
Spacenet also offers an innovative transportable solution called
GlobaLight. The GlobaLight system incorporates a Gilat SkyEdge
VSAT into a human-transportable (less than 55 lbs. with a folding
antenna), military-spec ruggedized enclosure. The system can be
used for data, video and voice, with speeds of up to 500 kbps
upstream and 2 Mbps downstream. It is tailored to the needs of
the military, although it can be used for other markets as well
where personal communications mobility is a requirement. US government
